Idiom of the Week: “An Axe to Grind”

Standard

[Sorry that this post was published late; I did not have internet access to organise the scheduling system in time!]

This week’s Idiom of the Week is “An Axe to Grind”; this idiom is one of my favourites and I use it when I am at work. It seems I use it more with the adults than with the children.

From God is Heart Blog

The meaning of “An axe to grind” is to have something to complain about.

For example:

Tom, I need to talk to you. I have an ax to grind.

Bill and Bob went into the other room to argue. They had an axe to grind.
