I have some fantastic news! I have joined SkimaTalk as a teacher! I am very excited about joining the teachers there! I can work whatever hours I wish and whenever I want. I will have to get myself all sorted with lessons and resources! I am very excited about working there. I found the link via the Teaching Online Course at i-to-i. I had a chat with Ted; one of the staff, about becoming a teacher and he was very positive. I am looking forward to teaching some students. I am trying to organise a quiet place to conduct the lessons and get some students in. I will be teaching via Skype which is brilliant. It is a good Programme to use.

Stop Taking my Pencils!

Standard

I think that this is a fabulous idea! Just would I get away with it?! I wonder how they feel when the students are using them… I have also said “swap for a pencil”; but the current place I am working in frown upon asking a student for the show for a pencil. I have found that it has worked; but only if all the teachers use the system!

The Ardent Teacher

I don’t know about you, but no matter what I have tried in the past, my pencils always seem to disappear! I have a special holder on my desk for ‘student pencils.’ I have previously asked them to leave a shoe in exchange for a pencil. I thought that if my students would hobble around my classroom with only one shoe, they would surely remember to give me my pencil back. But, sure enough, my pencils would slowly disappear! So, I recently came up with a new idea for keeping my pencils from getting “kidnapped” (napped by kids) and thought I would share it with you!
