Zero to Hero – Day 29: Plan the Next Thirty

Comments 14 Standard

Today’s assignment: sketch out an editorial calendar to cover your next 30 days of blogging.

I am actually liking the idea of ‘planning’! It will give me a possible reason to buy this:

It is from HappyOrganizedLife at her Etsy Store. Erin is one of many people I have fallen in love with; her work to say – I have fallen for her work! Erin has also created a Travel Set which I REALLY want need to buy!

I have already created; well drafted what I want to write about for the next few days. I am just waiting for the results of the poll I created in my previous post. I am thinking about making some resources; which I know I will use!

One of these posts is going to be a Q&A post; as angiemdelamere has offered to a buddy with me *waves hi* which I think is a fantastic idea!

Zero To Hero – Day 28: Create a New Feature

Comments 12 Standard

Today’s assignment: develop a regular feature for your blog.

Why do this? Why create a regular feature on ‘My TEFL Adventures’? I know that doing this regular feature will make readers have something specific to wait for at regular intervals — in other words, my blog has a hook. Just like Ailsa and her Travel Themes and it is always a good idea to work on healthy blogging habits and regular features help me stay on track.

But what can I do? Some of the examples that have been given on the Daily Post are:

  • A weekly photo post (or even better: a weekly photo gallery post) – that could be an idea; but I feel that this is not suitable for this blog at this particular moment in time
  • A monthly Q & A with one of your blogging buddies – I think this is a good idea; but I do not know where I would start from though?!
  • A Music Monday, featuring the song that rocked your weekend – this could be a possiblity, but currently I am not listening to much music 😦
  • A Flavor Friday dedicated to the recipe you experimented with over the previous week – to be honest I do not really cook at home and my food is the same most weeks!

I have thought of about doing a ‘Throwback Thursday’ post where I write about something that has happened in the past or a ‘List Friday’; where I write list of things. However; similar to what Papered Thoughts (Rin) does at her blog and on her Instagram. As ‘My TEFL Adventures’ is a blog is about my TEFLing adventures I think that my regular feature must be something linked to TEFLing or English.

I could do a “Idiom of the Week” or a “Metaphor of the Week” – what do you all think? I have created a poll and I hope that you will all help me decide. As I do appreciate all my readers and followers; as you are the people (in theory) I am writing for, other than ‘venting’ my experiences.

Which feature should I do?

Zero to Hero – Day 27: Build On the Popular

Comments 3 Standard

Today’s assignment: find the post that has received the most views, likes, or comments, and write a related follow-up post.

I was hoping that a post that would involve my Stats would come up soon; as I have been watching my Stats closely. I love to know what people have said, what they have looked at and where they are from.

I think the technology of the Stats is epic, as I feel that it brings me closer to my readers. Does anyone find that?

Here are what I have seen (Please note that these images were taken yesterday)

Averages per Day

From this I am guessing that on average I get 16 views a day; which I would love to increase

Months & Years

Also since starting Zero to Hero my visitors has increased LOADS! I wonder how many visitors I will have on my “Blog-anniversary” in August…

The most visited post; other than my “Home Page” it was my entry for Ailsa’s Travel Theme – Close Up…I am definitely continue doing these themes! Very creative! This post had 13 views in the last SEVEN days!

After reading this, I decided to look at the “all time” stats for the most visited post…which was:

Home Page had 483 visits and About Me with 99 visits and my Liebster Award Entry had 32 visits!

I LOVE stats!!!

Zero To Hero – Day 26: Extend Your Brand

Zero To Hero – Day 26: Extend Your Brand

Today’s assignment: extend your brand with one of the following: a custom Blavatar, a custom image widget, or a Facebook fan page.

Blavatar – I did not know what this was until I followed the steps on the Support Pages; and I did not realise but I already have an image that I am using as my Blavatar – it is the image of my ‘beautiful’ face. So I do not need to create one of them…

Custom Image Widget – I remember created my of images with PhotoShop on my Proboard and InvisionFree forum boards many years ago. I never though about creating some go on the blog…I would if the creator of the theme would be able to do some…I will do some research and find out…

I have already created a “fan page” for the blog on Facebook – I have posted this post as a Link…if you have not ‘Liked’ my page, please feel free to do so…I am happy to “Like” back!

Zero To Hero – Day 25: Save a Few Drafts

This was a draft which I wrote on my phone; but I was unable to post as I had no access to the internet it

Today’s assignment: look back over what you’ve published. What have you been most proud of? What are the common threads? Which have been most popular? Create and save at least two draft posts with ideas that come from those.

There are many posts that I am a proud of and some have surprised me with the amount of views and comments. I do have some drafts ready and waiting; nothing to do with Zero to Hero though. they are truly about my TEFL adventures. that is the main reason why I created this blog; was to journal my adventures and share my thoughts and feelings. I have two drafts ready and waiting to be published. One is a list of things I would like to take with me to remind me of home and the second is jobs I am thinking of applying for.

One thing that I have noticed about my published posts are that they are getting longer (slowly) which I am happy about; however I would love to have a post which would make people think…currently the draft of the list of things is getting longer as I am adding things to it all the time. Images; quotes and examples of what I would take with me.

Zero To Hero: Day 19 “The World is a…”

“The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page”

Zero To Hero: Day 19 – Try a New Posting Style

Today’s assignment: build your storyteller’s toolbox by publishing a post in another format or a style you’ve never used before.

I have decided to you a quote…which is the only posting format I have not done yet; I love using the “blockquote” tool in my posts. I am using them when I am catching up on my Zero To Hero posts.

I thought that I would quote about travelling; as in theory that is what I am (or will be more) blogging about. I love to meet new people and travel on public transport. I really don’t like driving my car; if I could walk, bus, train or even fly to work I would.
